There are not many people, who have not suffered split ends. You may look picture-perfect with your hair but up close, many people have split ends in their hairs. It is a very common problem in adult women.

What are Split Ends?

Split ends are the frayed ends of your strands that arise due to the damage of cuticles. Due to the split ends, your hair looks dry, strangely, and tends to be tangled. Cutting off the split ends could be one of the best solutions to get rid of it. Before doing that, it is necessary to know the causes of split ends.

Brushing

Common causes of Split Ends

Nutritional deficiency or Genetics may be one of the causes of having split ends. Apart from that, there are some certain reasons for having split ends, which are mentioned below.

Heat Styling

Frequent use of heat styling kits can be a major cause of split ends. Sometimes we forget to apply the thermal protection and style it at high temperature, resulting in the protein and keratin bonds of the hair to be ruptured. Excess exposure to UV-radiation from the sun may also damage your hair. Although it is a bit time consuming but style your hair by lowering the temperature of the heat styling kit. You can stop getting split ends by reducing the use of a heat styling kit.

Chemical and Color Treatment

Artificial straightening, coloring, bleaching break down the structure of your hair drastically. It makes your hair prone to damage, such as split ends. As a result, you get the appearance of frayed or split ends.

Over-washing and Brushing

Try to use sulfate and parabens free natural shampoo on the scalp and condition the ends.

Forceful brushing of your hair creates strain and may lead to such damage. You should always detangle your hairs before brushing.

I started It’s Different Now as a place to talk about products and experiences in a way that just wasn’t possible in magazines or papers: I wanted to say if a product was rubbish and not just discretely ‘not mention it’.. I just felt consumers had a right to know if they were throwing their money away. Basically, I had gathered so much product knowledge and it was all sitting in my brain doing nothing, so along came the blog.
